Launching new "Weasel of the Month" segment

The 10th Edition of the Online Merriam Webster dictionary defines a weasel as a "a sneaky, untrustworthy, or insincere person".
For example, if someone would repeat a fabrication over and over again about Yukio Asano being sentenced to 15 years for waterboarding when it had very little (if anything at all) to do with it - that is a weasel.
If someone says there are 500,000 frozen embryos for embryonic cell research that are slated for destruction and conveniently forgets to research to find out that the true number is 11,000 - which are too degraded for good research anyway - that is a weasel.
If someone would say that Cheney tortures using waterboarding, yet doesn't bat an eye at the Lyndon B Johnson administration who has photo proof of waterboarding - that is a weasel.
If someone would hope to get elected and promise not to let gas price levels get nearly as high as $3.00 a gallon and it goes up to $3.20 a gallon - that's a weasel.
In fact, a lot of liberals are flat-out weasels.
Do they realize it? I think some do it intentionally. Some just follow the leader. They blindly believe that if they elect a liberal Democrat - things in Iraq will magically transform. In their mind - maybe it does.
In reality - they are weasels.
May 2007 - the first month for this segment has a weasel. It is non-other than Gil Smart at LNP. He is a first-class weasel. So far this month, his columns haven't been too weaselly. That's a good thing. Let's hope it stays that way. His track record has won him this prestigious first award.

The cRoW's Final Word on Waterboarding
Ted Kennedy is a giant, drunk liar.

Pictured here in recent movie role.

This time, I caught him red-handed telling a big lie. Asano was not sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for "waterboarding", as Kennedy falsely claimed.
Unlike waterboarding, there was no cloth or cellophane over the face. There was water actually entering the mouths and noses of the victims.
Even so, this "water cure" was still not considered torture, per se. It was only considered torture in summation with all of the other offenses and the actual submersion (dunk). There is no dunking or submersion in waterboarding.
Ted Kennedy is a giant, fat lying pig.
And so is anyone who continues to propogate his fallacies.

Waterboarding under Lyndon B. Johnson - Democrat
The photo evidence:

Ted Kennedy fabricates a 15 year sentence for "waterboarding" in WWII against Yukio Asano.
In fact, the charge was "water torture", not waterboarding. And there were numerous other charges considered much more severe.

Ted Kennedy fabricates a 15 year sentence for "waterboarding" in WWII against Yukio Asano.
"Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor," Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) told his colleagues last Thursday during the debate on military commissions legislation. "We punished people with 15 years of hard labor when waterboarding was used against Americans in World War II," he said.
In fact, the charge was "water torture", not waterboarding. And there were numerous other charges considered much more severe.
58The charge and specifications against Asano were:
Charge: That between 1 April, 1943 and 31 August, 1944, , at Fukoka Prisoner of War Branch Camp Number 3, Kyushu, Japan, the accused Yukio Asana, then a civilian serving as an interpreter with the Armed Forces of Japan, a nation then at war with the United States of America and its Allies, did violate the Laws and Customs of War.
Specification 1: That in or about July or August, 1943, the accused Yukio Asano, did willfully and unlawfully, brutally mistreat and torture Morris O. Killough, an American Prisoner of War, by beating and kicking him; by fastening him on a stretcher and pouring water up his nostrils.
Specification 2: That on or about 15 May, 1944, at Fukoka Prisoner of War Branch Camp
Number 3, Kyushu, Japan, the accused Yukio Asano, did, willfully and unlawfully, brutally mistreat and torture Thomas B. Armitage, William O Cash and Munroe Dave Woodall, American Prisoners of War by beating and kicking them, by forcing water into their mouths and noses; and by pressing lighted cigarettes against their bodies.
Specification 5. That between 1 April, 1943 and 31 December, 1943, the accused Yukio Asano, did, willfully and unlawfully, brutally mistreat and torture John Henry Burton, an American Prisoner of War, by beating him; and by fastening him head downward on a stretcher and forcing water into his nose...
... [We] were strapped to stretchers and warm water poured down our nostrils until we were about ready to pass out65
[They] strapped him to a stretcher and elevated his feet and then poured on his face so that it was almost impossible for him to get his breath.66
[The victim] was then taken into the corridor, strapped to a stretcher, which was tilted so that his head was toward the floor and feet resting on a nearby sink. Water was then poured down his nose and mouth for about twenty minutes...67
...None of the specifications were on water torture per se, but specifications 2 and 9 refer to forcing prisoners into a tank of water, 2 is 5 unknown pows, 9 is throwing American POW James E Martin into a tank of water. The testimony discussed infra ties those specifications into water torture...
...After taking me down into the hallway, they laid me out on a stretcher and strapped me on. The stretcher was then stood on end with my head almost touching the floor and my feet in the air. By this time, practically the entire Japanese personnel of the camp were present. I saw the Japanese Major who was the Commanding Officer and also the 1st Lt. Who was his assistant. This 1st Lt. Told me while I was strapped to the stretcher that he didn’t think I did it, but it was his duty to punish me anyway.
They then began pouring water over my face and at times it was almost impossible for me to breath without sucking in water. This torture continued for what must have been a half hour or an hour. Finally I was placed in a horizontal position and unstrapped. It was imopossible for me to arise so one of the prisoners...helped me.
Affidavit of John Henry Burton, Los Angeles, CA, 26 April, 1946, (civilian captured on Wake Island).

Waterboarding Gil?
Gil still does not seem to understand the basic differences between medieval waterboarding and modern waterboarding. I posted about this last year and if anyone wants a refresher course - it is posted at Wikipedia.org.
It isn't rocket science to figure out.
Unfortunately, Gil likes to rely on the same old trickery and treachery liberals have always been so fond of, I guess. I am not sure how else to explain why this man can't simply read about this in an online encyclopedia.
To be honest, his weekly column is more torturous than modern waterboarding because it is like watching a bad train wreck.
If he is so upset about torture, why doesn't he vote Democrat?
You know, the party that A-bombed the Japanese after they would not unconditionally surrender. So much for diplomacy, I guess. But we have all been taught in school, we had no choice but to A-bomb those innocent civilians - incinerate them by the hundreds of thousands. Those that didn't die were poisoned by the fallout.
The Democrats - the party of peace and the supreme foreign relations experts...righhhttt...

Smart still smarting from Bill O'Reilly
It's pretty funny, watching this wanna-be newspaper columnist getting pissed off about the "Most Ridiculous Item of the Day" tag O'Reilly gave him (courtesy of yours truly?). LOL.
Now he wants to make it a personal thing between him and Bill O'Reilly. Yeah, right. Like he is even half the reporter Bill is. Bill smacked this guy down so hard, Smart is still smarting about it.
I think O'Reilly won't even bat an eyebrow at this stupid column. It almost sounds semi-coherent, but not really. Just more bitter pills from a crackpot nobody who is fortunate enough to find someone stupid enough to pay him some cash for his corny (and often misinformed) point of view. Maybe his column arouses Marv Adams in some strangely sexual way - especially the info on Longs Park?
Lancaster deserves better than this. Honestly guys. I don't even care if it's someone liberal. Just get some new, fresh perspectives in the Lancaster Newspaper. And please, don't ask - don't tell.

Iraq officials: Don't Pull Troops
Iraq Officials: Don't Pull Troops
WASHINGTON -- Worried Congress' support for Iraq is deteriorating rapidly, Baghdad dispatched senior officials to Capitol Hill this week to warn members one-on-one that pulling out U.S. troops would have disastrous consequences.
Gil still harping on months old garbage discredited long ago
Full statement to troops, never addresses Bush or President in any way
In his most recent post on his blog titled "Gen. Petraeus hates torture. And probably freedom too.", Gil continues to rely on the falsified information provided by Ted Kennedy on waterboarding.

Smart Remarks blog returns after lengthy "hiatus"
Finally, after several years on the shelf, Gil has decided to relaunch his Smart Remarks blog. View the old one here.
His new one can be found here.
Of course, this blog will closely watch for any misinformation that Gil attempts to saturate uninformed minds with and will post it in all its glory on these very pages, just as it has for years on his Sunday column.

Democrats Drag Their Feet on Lobbying Reforms
WASHINGTON -- House Democrats are suddenly balking at the tough lobbying reforms they touted to voters last fall as a reason for putting them in charge of Congress.
Now that they are running things, many Democrats want to keep the big campaign donations and lavish parties that lobbyists put together for them. They're also having second thoughts about having to wait an extra year before they can become high-paid lobbyists themselves should they retire or be defeated at the polls. More...

Johnny Edwards is so concerned about poverty, he took a high-paying job to learn about it???
Full Story

WASHINGTON (AP) - AP Video Democrat John Edwards said Tuesday that he worked for a hedge fund between presidential campaigns to learn about financial markets and their relationship to poverty—and to make money too.
In an interview with The Associated Press, the former North Carolina senator said his yearlong, part-time position with Fortress Investment Group helped his understanding of the connection but he has more to learn. Edwards has made eradicating poverty a focus of his second White House bid.
Edwards, a multimillionaire after years as a trial lawyer, would not disclose how much he got paid for a year of consulting beginning in October 2005. He said the amount will be revealed when he releases his financial disclosure forms due May 15.
Asked if he had to join a hedge fund to learn about financial markets, Edwards replied, "How else would I have done it?"
He said he considered going to an investment firm such as Goldman Sachs, but Fortress was the most natural fit. Presented with the suggestion that he could have taken a university class instead, he said, "That's true."
"It was primarily to learn, but making money was a good thing, too," the 2004 vice presidential nominee said in an hourlong interview with AP reporters and editors.
Hedge funds, now numbering more than 9,000 in the U.S. with assets estimated to exceed $1 trillion, traditionally cater to the rich, as well as pension funds and university endowments, but are increasingly luring less wealthy investors.
