Gil, you are 100% full of fucking shit. The reason gas prices went up is because the Clinton administration made it mandatory for gasoline to contain MTBE-like substances in the Clean Air Act of 1992. When it was discovered that MTBE was leaking into the water supplies and causing cancer, the oil industry was forced to phase out MTBE, shutting down many plants and costing them a lot of money and time.
