This week's Sunday News column was not really worth the read. Gil seems to again incorrectly assert that the war in Iraq was about oil. Iraq imports in 2002 accounted for about 9% of U.S. demand. All-in-all, Iraq produced 2.4% of the world's oil supply in 2004. Hardly something that couldn't be corrected with purchasing or importing elsewhere, don't you think?
Him and his TB cronies are basically trying to cover for the 550 metric tons (600 tons) of uranium yellowcake removed from Iraq just in the past week or so. Sure, it's not about Iraq having a WMD program - it's about oil. Sure...
While Gil does show signs of returning to intelligence, he seems to let the nonsensical, ridiculous stuff leak through every once in while. At least it is certainly a vast improvement over the ridiculousness of putting his column in the Lancaster section.
