The Challenger had just narrowly avoided a collision with a man with a backpack. It had drastically slowed and the brake lights were on. Someone strikes the car with a protest sign post with a tshirt and a water bottle is wrapped in the tshirt.
This is the person that hit the car intially, causing it to speed up into a crowd. It is undetermined if this was road rage or if the driver was startled, possibly thinking someone opened fire.
This person appears to be antifa dressed in full antifa gear (goggles, sunglasses, mask, bandana).
In this photo, you can see from another angle the same person in purple on the trunk of the car. This matches a Youtube video online.
This is a screen capture from that Youtube video that shows marchers going the wrong way up 4th Street in Charlottesville (near Water St.) chanting "All streets, our streets".
From the same Youtube video, just moments before the car came through. Purple top with a white bandana.
Face captured of person that was hit.
And finally, this shows that this street is one way and that the crash was at least partially caused by the negligent acts of the protestors that ignored street signs. Obviously, the driver is responsible for his driving, but it does not appear from these videos and pictures that his intention was to harm or injure. He was on the brakes several times and it is quite possible he was scared or startled. The story that the media is telling is very, very far from the truth.
